Thanked: 13245Wade & Butcher when it rains it pours :)
Here are 3 I just finished up
The FBU is a re-re-scale
Paul sent two beauties out for some scales and honing, the first one was an FBU is Carbon Fiber scales, to give you an idea the scales were .143 thick each and the wedge/spacer was .135 at the end.. Also the pivot end was rather high so the scale were much larger then the tang making the razor awkward to strop..
We decided to see if I could re-fashion the scales,, I re-shaped them first then contoured the edges and finally thinned them down to .110, the wedge is Vivid Violet acrylic and is .055 at the end.. Basically the scales changed from clunky chunky and nearly 1/2 an inch thick to about half that and steamlined to fit the hand easily.. Hardware is NiAg Pins and SS washers, Brass bearing washers of course..
The Celebrated was re-scaled in Bone Linen Micarta, contoured at .135 then thinned down to .105 the Solid Brass wedge is .045 at the very end,,, Brass pins and Triple stacked washers hold it all together..
Finally a rare 5/8 double hollow grind W&B from Jesse, fully restored to a satin finish and put away in Black Buffalo Horn scales, I tried to hold onto as much contour as possible, I started these out at .175 thickness and rounded them out.. Then I thinned them down to .105, the wedge is .025 at the very end... Allthough the scales are a slightly different shape by request then the originals, the sizes and relationship of the parts are really close... All hardware is solid Brass
Honing on all three Chosera 1-5-10, Select Grade Coticule finish

Glen
I really like the brass wedge. I think some other razor makes would be more appealing with this treatment.
DaveIf you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
