Wow, Very, Very original. Awesome. Love the choice of colours and the non-traditional scales. Well done.

Well in my limited experience with making scales i am attempting to make one like your praying mantis as the design is amazing to me.
By far it is not going to be as awesome as yours but this is how far i have gone till now.
Thank you for sharing this straight to us.
Took some wood and traced the design on the scales with the razor i will be using.
Cut it out and sanded it.
Now the wedge is where i usually have problems.
When i finish i will come back with my finished product.

Well after i saw LR Harner's Prayin mantis i was jealous and by far i do not have the craftsmanship as he does but i decided to make something close as i thought those scales were awesome.
Here is my final product and now time to hone this insect.
I have been making scales for only a few months and love it.
All this was possible from the info you guys put out, thank you.

I think this prayin mantis shape is so cool i made a couple of more scales for my 2 other straights.
Just have to pin them now.
I am still no pro ,but just like trying to learn to make nice scales like some of you guys.*****HAVE A GREAT SHAVE*****
