Thanked: 1587Anyone Else Get Caught in the Great Brisbane Storm?
I did. Turned up at Central train station around 5:30pm to be greeted by a few thousand (it seemed) fretting passengers locked out of the gates. After around 10 minutes a representative from Queensland Rail came out and told us to disperse and find our own way home, trains were out for the foreseeable future.
That's great for people who live in the city, at least there might be a bus alternative. But my wife and I live on the Sunshine Coast.
So, got an early dinner, caught a bus to Carseldine (never seen bus stations so crowded before). Flagged a taxi from there to Caboolture ($100!!), fluked a railbus to Landsborough.
Got home around 9:30pm. But, at least I got home.
Anyone from Brissy get caught too? Pretty bad storm.

Wow. What a story/adventure. Out on the street wondering "how the heck am I going to get home?" The only worse place is out on the street with no home to go to. I'm glad you made it home safe. There's a story to tell the grandkids.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Well, I was supposed to be over in Brissy about now, but cancelled 'till third week in December.
I think I dodged a meteorological bullet there ....Glad you're safe, even though a little poorer !!http://straightrazorplace.com/workshop/18504-welcome-workshop-how-do-i-where-do-i-what-do-i-answers-here.html

I was lucky, I was heading home from Cannon Hill, via train. All went well apart from getting drenched. The train after mine got stopped, South Brisbane station was closed, and so were the CBD stations as you found out.
I was very lucky with my timing, as had reservation with family at a nice French restaurant in Paddington. We all managed to make it there, although slightly late...
FYI, I can highly recommend Montrachet if anyone in the area is looking for a nice meal. The food and service has always been flawless the half dozen times I have been there over the last few years. It's on Given Tce. Personally I tend to dine at the restaurants with more Vegetarian options, but my family love it so we have visited a number of times (I'm the only Veg in the family)It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

How'd you go during the G20 Andrew?
James, I had to drive in a pick SWMBO up from the CBD and it was great fun driving home in the rain (Glad I didn't take the bike...hehehe)
Hope everyone got away with minimal damage/disruption.Hang on and enjoy the ride...
