Thanked: 0Hi Spawnless, I'm in Brissie Northside but regularly goes to Southside every weekend. If you're interested in learning how to hone straight razors, I can help with that.

Thanked: 0Does anybody know anyone close to the Gold Coast or I am willing to travel to brissy, I have a few razors that need honing and one has a tiny chip on the end of a Spanish point where my lovely girlfriend dropped it.... one of my razors is a one of a kind hand forged piece so kind of picky about that one, and if they could also show me how to hone would also be amazing thanks! I'm happy to pay of course

Hey Huskyman,
Would it be possible to come up and see you, learn about some honing and maybe try to hone my own?
I'd also like some advice on some stones.
I'm ok with travelling.

Honing/sharpening Brisbane
Evening all, just doing some light reading and came upon this thread. I've been using DE gear for sometime now, however graduated into big kids class this week and have officially recorded 2 shaves with the straight I managed to get myself a Herder 6/8 full hollow square tip and english bridle 3" strop as a starter. The razor was honed in Sydney by Mark (not sure if he's on these forums but thinking he might be).
Won't be honing this one for quite a bit, but going to get a cheap resto project straight to practice on. Hoping for a half hollow round tip in the 5/8 to 6/8 range, but will see what comes onto fleabay.
Live in Taigum on the Northside, so just thought I'd say g'day and if a meet ever happens would certainly be keen to catch up.
Cheers,

Hi Korbz, welcome aboard. Any questions you might have about the ancient art, feel free to ask - the guys here have a lot of collective knowledge and we're all keen to hear from new blokes. On the subject of meetups, it'd be great if we could get one going. It's been about 2 years since we had one and it feels well overdue.
regards
Mike
