    Default GD W59

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone here got GD's from the manufacturer and, if they do, could they get hold of a GD W59.
I'd love to try one 'cause, I reckon they look killer and I love Spanish Points however I don't want to pay $50 for it.
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

You're right, isn't that about $42.50 above cost?

I just got one in that's going to be an exercise in patience and tenacity, the blank is very thin and the grind is all over the place.

That is a mess. I know we at SRP are just gold dollar bashers according to the Facebook dynamic duo, but honestly that has real problems. Unfortunately it is correct in calling itself "classic quality." It has the same classic poor quality of most of the other gold dollars.

The design of that blade is a direct rip-off of a custom razor maker. The execution is poor. Look at the variability in the distance between the spine and the edge. That is going to result in varying bevel angles along the length of the blade. Notice how thin the spine is in the middle compared to the edges? That means as the spine wears, the middle will wear much faster than the ends and that's going to translate to a frown at the edge.

Was thinking the same when I read "classic quality". Great minds.

Utopian, you are 100% in your assessment, the wear on the tape support your observations. After some creative taping I was able to set the bevel, I had other stuff to do so I'll finish her tonight. There is something in the inside of the scales that is scratching the shit out of the tang and tail when I open the razor, I may look into it.
