So we dodged another bullet on Friday. The forecast disaster didn't happen & we actually had some rain the day before.
We calculated 1 in 89 houses were destroyed on Sth Coast. Goddam surreal.
Temps are cooling, so with luck, things are turning, at least in my neck of the woods.
You can see our small town of Bodalla (orange arrow) & how close the fire came, about 3miles. We were worried the 2 fire fronts would hook up but seems ok for now.Last edited by onimaru55; 01-12-2020 at 01:26 AM.

Thanks for checking in: it's really good to hear that you have managed to evade disaster. I sure wish we could send our rain your way.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I have spoken to Mick (Tathra) and he is OK. Fires to north and south. He relates several co-workers have lost all.
Said food, fuel, etc have been slowly coming back in after a long absence.
Hopefully this thing will be out soon.

Hi guys. It's 2am here & power & internet returned. I just went outside to check & we have spot fires on 3 sides of our street. As close as bout 700 metres to the east by my reckoning.
Ironically smoke is quite tolerable for now.
The 2 main fire fronts have merged at the Deua valley & there are fingers encroaching towards the coast at a few places. Really hoped this wouldn't happen but it is what it is.
This is all so draining. I hope "this too shall pass"
We're due a small amount of rain with a southerly change but sky is crystal clear atm tho the forecasts have been pretty accurate.
Gonna be a long night. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I hope you see the end of these relentless fires soon.
Try and stay positive. It has to eventually end.
Be safe.
