    You'll enjoy the Balmoral if you can get a good edge on it. I have a couple of those, and they all shave really well.

    Also, do yourselves a favour and keep an eye out for an old German blade called The Blue Wonder. They really are superb shavers.

    That was the most gut-wrenching thing I've seen for some time Baldy. Even that blokes 200x photo of his BBS shave was a picnic compared to that broken razor.
    I love steel way too much I think.

    just aquired a new razor which appears to be a 5/8 made by holtazapffel & co which i did some online reseach

    they made lathes around 17 and 19 century

    the razor is in good condition with a heavy grind. i think its a wedge with ivory scales

    Ok, this is a little bit off topic but I thought you guys might be interested to see this one, especially the Queenslanders. More of an un-common razor.
    The blade reads "made expressley for John McKinney Toowoomba", and the tang says its a Geo. Wostenholm & Son from Sheffield.I found it in an old antique store in Dorrigo NSW IIRC.
    Pretty cool eh.

    John Mckinney was a big businessman in the Toowoomba region around the 1800/1900 era if memory serves correctly, so it could go either way Oz. I'll see what I can find out, I've got some contacts in Toowoomba that may know of Mr Mckinneys history. I went to high school there...back in the day ...But not his day...I'm not that old!

    Thanx Mick . Was never much into razor history or collectability but seeing individuals names on razors warrants some research. We have seen a few examples of JNO Baker razors who were an importer in Sydney late 1800's . I know Baldy has/had one.
