Now I never said it was flat...Just flatter than those hilly areas of Tennessee etc. I know it's got a nice great big area full of hills and thick bushland suited to a T for some family feudin'.

So the holiday is over (for want of a better word) and we have all arrived back home safely. If any of you are considering a holiday with very young children I have one piece of advice. DON'T.

The first night I was expecting a full nights sleep after a long flight. (My daughter slept for the first half of the flight and then squealed for the second half). What I got was difficulty putting my daughter down for her sleep. Then later that night we ended up with her in our bed after she got way too cold because she kicked the blankets off herself.

So for two weeks I have been having family arguments over everything from the best way to bring up my daughter to the wording of my parents will (they are not even dead yet). Then when ever I went into town for anything it was like walking through a town called deliverance. Add to that each night I got about three hours sleep before being woken up by a screaming baby who couldn't understand why it was so cold. That was my holiday.

Then when we finally got home my daughter decided that she didn't want to sleep in her own cot, but wanted to yell and scream for the whole nignt.

So if you are thinking about traveling with very young children, DON'T.

Been there. Done that. It does get easier the more you travel. Travelled a two weeks with my first child being around a year and a half at the time. Everyday except for a few days in the middle were spent driving and sightseeing and sleeping in a different place every night. By the end of that she couldn't understand why, when we got home, that we weren't getting up and getting in the car the next morning.

Glad you're home safe and sound again mate. Next time come to sunny Queensland. I won't argue with you. I'll let my kids play with yours and I'll have a cold beer or three in the fridge for ya.
