No way! I grew up just a few miles from MacDill AFB myself (maybe one of the reasons I joined the USAF), in fact my parents used to live two blocks off of MacDill avenue, near Kennedy Blvd. They still live in town but they live on Harbour Island now. Small world.

Yup grew up south of Gandy Blvd. Probably only a mile or so from the Dale Mabry gate of MacDill. It's not the neighborhood it once was, thus I live in the "country" and stay largely on the other side of the bay.

Ah yes, S.O.G. was unfortunately the butt of many jokes when I was in High School (depending on if you went to Robinson High School or Plant High School). I guess you're "roughing it" now all the way out in New Port Richey!

Yeah my brother was stationed at NAS P-cola for a few months, only about 2 hours from the house. We went down and passed the hell out after a long day of irresponsibility. The BAs don't give a ****. 6 am on a Sunday and they were practicing landing on top of the barracks... Or so it seemed.

Yup, the old neighborhood sure ain't what it once was and to be honest Tampa ain't what it once was, so I moved out to the burbs (New Port Richey used to be orange groves, cattle, single wides and rednecks when I was a kid, not so anymore, it really is the burbs.) The fetching Mrs. GI and I have been contemplating a move up to the Redneck Riviera (Panama City) for years. I like to think that will finally happen in the forseeable future.

I used to be stationed in Pensacola where the Blue Angels main base was part of the year and they practiced every tuesday and thursday. Atleast thats the only times they were supposed to practice but nope they would practice every day at all times of the day and morning and evening and pretty much whenever you were trying to sleep. I did get to see a lot of cool shows for free though so thats worth it I guess.
