Default I Probably Shouldn't Say This...

Especially since the pilot in question is a squid...but this honestly kind of chubbed me up a bit:

Glad to see my tax dollars at work, this skill will come in handy when he needs to strafe a beach full of vacationing families.

    Holy Guacamole!

The whole mess of them blew my doors off once. I was southbound on I-75 about 25-minutes north of Dayton, OH. About a minute after it dawned on me it was the airshow weekend, that the show was nearly over and I better speed up to miss the traffic - KA-blooooommm.... sub-sonic, right over the median going south. If you complain, it's what they call "the sound of freedom" when you live near Cherry Point or Seymore Johnson AFB.

What a sight! I saw the smoke plume of them going straight up shortly thereafter. 4:03 -

I know, right? Where the hell was my high school guidance counselor on that one? When I finished my degree (almost exactly on my 25th anniversary on active duty) I took my degree up to personnel and told them I was ready for a commission. They said what I knew they would say (i.e. you're too damn old and you've been in for 25 years) and directed me down the hall to retirements. I could have been the crustiest LT on the planet

Having grown up not far off the end of the runway of MacDill AFB (at a time when it was the school house for F-4 guys going to Vietnam) I was acquainted with the sound of freedom very young. My first time working on real airplanes (F-111's at Mountain Home right after tech school) we were out on the flightline when four jets cranked up right next to us. When I began to insert earplugs (as they had taught us in school) my boss, the quintessential crusty old Sergeant, snapped "What the @#ck are you doing!?" When I explained I was inserting ear protection he retorted, "You clueless @#ck! That's the sound of freedom, if your sensitive little ears can't enjoy it, you should probably be working at McDonalds!"

Thanks, you don't want to be hit by the water it could kill you, like being hit with a brick wall. We had a couple dropping water in the mill yard to put out a fire the local fire dept was having trouble handling.
