The best pint of Guinness there is can be found at Kehoe's on South Anne Street.
It's a bit out of the way, but if you like seafood and traditional Irish music, Johnny Fox's pub is spectacular in every way.

    Have a great time!
    Thanks for the tips.
A plate of mussels and a pint of stout is hard to beat.
I always go to places with big plans and usually just end up finding a quiet wee pub and setting up camp.
I'll probably spend a lot of my time in and around temple bar because of the festival whereas usually I would try to avoid it as it's a tourist trap

Ended up going to Knights on the green as it was near the shops and the wife wanted to shop while I was getting shaved.
    Biggest mistake of my life!!
Awful service, big Indian man who either couldn't or wouldn't speak English.
I knew it was a bad shave from the start felt far to rough.
Wouldn't have minded so much if the finish had of been good, I can do a better job myself and I'm not great!
Finally after a mediocre haircut I was stung with a €50 bill.

    Sounds like delightfully inexpensive experience
Better think it this way: which became cheaper for you, your barber or the shopping of your wife?

All joking aside, beer is always worth the price. At least the first. Maybe the last ones too.

Temple Bar on a weekend night is a mosh-pit, The Palace on Fleet Street is a beautiful pub Mulligans of Poolbeg Street is a landmark, both a short walk from each other and the centre of things The Stags head in Temple Bar is a great pub during the day when you can get a seat but is jammed at night. Start yourself off at Mulligans and work toward Temple Bar via The Palace after that you wont care where you end up. Enjoy and be safe

How were Bellowhead Kev? One of my favourite bands!

Seen them several times including their very first gig at the now defunct Oxford Folk Festival years ago. Squeezy John, the box player used to come out with me and my old morris team now and then years ago.

I've played with several of them in various sessions over the years (I'm a box player too) and my daughter managed Paul the oboe/fiddle player in one of his other setups for a while. Good bloke Paul!

Bellowhead aren't your usual run of the mill folk bands!

I'm pretty drunk right now so I'll keep it short.
So far Dublin has be great. I just found out after 2 years of trying that I'm gonna be a dad for the second time.

Also Bellowhead were amazing! Quite possibly the best gig I've ever been to!!

Now I've sobered up I can honestly say it was the best gig I've ever been to. I was in just the right mood for it too, mostly fuelled by Guinness.
I met Paul in the Vathouse pub afterwards. He was nice enough pose for a picture with me, even though I must've seemed like a big drunk.
This was there first time in Ireland I think, definitely their first time in Dublin. I don't think I'll wait for them to come back, I'll have to go over to England and see them sooner.

As you can see, Paul was delighted to meet me!
