    Thanks for this post, it led me on a search about the U.S. Air force and General Robin Olds. I learned a few things about each. What a character he was.

    I've been rocking the handlebar for a few months now. It started out as a Movember thing (fifth year), and I just decided to keep it this year.

    This is only a guess, but he might have done what I do when I go SCUBA diving.
    Use a lot of mustache wax.

    As long as you use a wax based formula with no petroleum ingredients, it could be coaxed behind a mask (in a high- oxygen environment like the inside of a mask in a cockpit, petrochemicals are highly, highly flammable). But my guess he wore his mask with one connector hanging free, even In flight, like this-
