Something my grandfather told me about cats and carp has kept me from even letting it touch my lips. I hear it tastes good to some and more power to you. I am not even fond of trout but give me chance to eat bass or blue gill. And spending time teaching a kid to fish is priceless. I would never pass that opportunity up. Sounds like you had a great time gooser.

Funny thing about that is that the water is safe to drink as Ft Worth uses water from the lake.........

There's a B-36 in the bottom of it too. It's all smashed flat, but its all there. Right at the N end of Runway 35.
Thats B.S,the cats that live in the mud will be full of heavy metals,The trick is to catch the cats that live above the mud.
For that you need chickin liver or Crawdad tails

in the lakes here they love some bluegill or shad chopped up ... I was fishing leaches and gills at first with no luck , bottom bounced the nightcrawlers in the current and they were hitting like mad !!

How to cook a Queensland Fork tailed catfish
fresh or salf water species use the same method
    skin & clean your catfish
fill fish with what ever flavouring herbs etc you like
encase in thick mud like a pie etc
put direct into fire coals until the mud casing is completely dry (about 1 hour per pound)
    when done break open casing
    remove the fish & discard
now eat the mud casing it will have less of a dirt flavour than the fish

I must note: my father inlaw used to get upset when I told him our catties are crap to eat,
and he swore black & blue that catfish down in New South Wales were great eating.
so one year whilst he was up on holidays we were out fishing & kept one for him to try
he cooked it as he would at home.

He changed his tune real quick after tasting the locals
but still swore his eel tails were great chewing down home.
I can't bring myself to try another anywhere as I am still trying to get that flavour out of my mind when I think about it. LOL

LMAO! Damn near blew coffee on the keyboard when I read that. I figured something like that might be the case.
NO desire to try eel tails. Thank you very much.

    Good thread !
My mate's son with a big flathead caught at Narooma some years back whilst jigging plastics. Big fish, big smile.
