Hoplophobia is rampant here just like it is there.
Sadly the FN, along with the AK were deemed Prohibited by some pantywaist liberal because it was 'scary'...hell, they made the G11 Prohibited as well which essentially does not exist.
How was this done?
They flipped through a magazine and *every* *single* *time* they saw a firearm that made them pee themselves it was immediately reclassified as a Prohibited.
Done that a several occasions. First time I did that when I was a kid the lesson didn't take too well, so I did it a few more times before I figured out I was doing something wrong. The icing on the cake was when I was a bit older and teaching my then girlfriend how to use my Mini 14. I was silly enough to not step far enough back when she started to shoot and wore a hot .223 shell down my shirt front.

I'm right handed but still love the AR platform...i have a Smith & Wesson M&P15, as well as an M&P40 pistol to round out my collection
To address the others here and their concerns about Hoplophobia, and "gun control" laws....i couldn't agree more...and it is sad that good, law abiding people who simply want a way of protecting themselves from the deranged criminals who don't give a crap about which guns are banned, or even whether or not they are allowed to have them in the first place....the criminals will always pray on those who can't protect themselves...just a fact...why not let good people protect their families....
the other sad thing is that there will always be bad people who use guns, knives, baseball bats, metal pipes, bombs, poison, anything to hurt others...simply banning the item that was used does not solve the problem...i like this famous quote...
"If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with Army pistols or rifles, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and the gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional right"
hey, i live in Massachusetts, full of EXTREMELY liberal folks, almost all VERY far Democrat leaning...most hate the 2nd amendment, hate guns, the idea of using a firearm to protect yourself or your family....but still i obtained my License To Carry, and i carry my Glock 26 concealed each and every day...this is just a normal part of my life...i take the responsibility of carrying a firearm absolutely seriously, and hope to god that i NEVER need to draw it from my holster for defensive purposes....but if that day should ever come...and i don't have it....my life, or the life of my wife or son could be taken..
something which i am NOT prepared to let happen simply because certain people do not like the idea of a person carrying a firearm.

Thanked: 983I loved my Ruger Mini 14 when the gummint man didn't care about semi auto's. Sadly it had to go. Mine was S/S and wood stock with a 3-9x50 scope. I like the shorter rifles too. Which is why I like the looks of, even if I don't like the operating system, AR's and their likes. Without meaning to get off track here, I like the Ruger Gunsite rifle for it's length and long open sight radius (unlike it's Scout model, though I do prefer the 30-06 calibre over the .308. Sight radius trumps the calibre for me)...But lets get back to some more pictures of AR's. I can dream even if I can't own anything in the battle rifle configuration.
