cant sit still lately !!
for some reason I don't feel like working on razors I need to re-scale and don't feel like honing anything either ..lol.. as the flow slows down in the local steelhead trout streams and still needing to buy my fishing license I have had the urge to walk walk walk ..... so here are todays shots
a rare site in OH as there are very few "known" native brook trout streams left as populations grew along with industry , I must say other then a brown trout or a nice dark steelhead trout with a big hooked jaw there aren't to many fish that I adore such beauty on .
below is a set of stone steps , I don't know how long they have been there but assume there was a good reason because they are to and from where the next picture after the one below
this is where the steps stop .. at one point there was a square box built by stone , you can see part of it on the right side as cut stones are still remaining , where I took picture from was another wall/dam , with nothing around for years I have wondered the purpose !?!?!?!? in the past I have found pieces of old clay jugs further upstream and indian grinding stones for grain and such so at some point something was going on in the area.

It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Great pics!
I have a serious hankering to get out of the den, and onto the water... almost time to pull the bass boat out of storage!

Thanks for sharing your pics. The stream looks inviting.
I bought a new rod and reel Friday and am hoping to get some fishing in this weekend-need to get my fishing license first. Last year I didn't buy a license so only fished privately owned water.

last year i had a 7-10lb average with the majority being around 10.. about 10yrs ago i guided for a couple years , there was a couple dams on this creek that no one would fish above and i pretty much had the river 2 myself until the dams washed out and opened the flood fates of people , o ver the years the greatlakes tributaries have become a inexpensive (compared to others) worldly known fishery and as the popularity has grown so has the catch-n-release theory so the last few years ppl have really been catching some big fish , the attractant here are the numbers ! on a sun up to sun down day of fish -hike-fish-hike i went through 3 ,24shot disposable cameras and never took more then one picture per fish , that was a few years ago before i had kids and could follow the fish and fished from MI-NY pending on the weather , but when its good it is nothing to sit in a set of riffles and pull fish after fish ... water gets so clear and guys still throw big spinners and flys , i drop down to size 16-18 nymphs and stone flys on 6-8lb floural carbon and pick up what they have spooked .....
my largest bottomed out a bk weigh net that goes to 14# so im guessing around 14-15 and was a beautiful male with a huge hooked jaw ... some big browns and the occasional salmon are starting to filter in also ..
although i dont get out nearly as much anymore there was a point where i would fish almost every day they were in , i even had some one call the police on me because i had one of my kids strapped in the car seat and carried it down to the river with him in it ..lol
last spring i think i fished maybe 5-6 times in the spring run (the run was short) and had 10-12 fish days with a average size of the fish below , 8-10lb ranfe
a smaller fish
until i get the kids waders most of my fishing fun is just watching anymore ..lol
