I quit smoking the old fashioned way. My track record with aids has been I get addicted to those, try and quit the aid and go back to smoking. I have a few buddies who have stopped smoking and gone the way of E cigs and their overall health seems better. I just find it disconcerting that the powers that be have deemed them a nuisance as they have been included under the same restrictions as cigarettes in my area.

Coming up on one year for me using the e-cigs, still use it with a coffee in the morning and maybe after dinner, but don't bring it with me anymore when I go out, and I felt the benefits within two weeks. BP down, my wind is up, and the one thing I notice - smoking cigarettes makes you stink, I'm shocked at how much I didn't realize how much they stank.
I never had a plan to give up smoking, my plan was to take the first step and do some "harm reduction", not inhaling 800 degree burning smoke filled with how many unknown chemicals is a good idea no matter what way you look at it.
The amount I use my e-cig now, maybe I'll give it up one day, but not the top of my to-do list. Took me awhile to get used to, but one of the best things I ever did.

Thanked: 4207My daughter just bought me one to help me consider giving up the cigs and gars.
I will admit, the hit from it is different, but similar to a smoke. My juice has nicotine in it and the first haul made me cough actually. Weird that it feels cooler, temp wise as you exhale in the car. Wife much prefers me using this in the car, smells way better.
Too soon to tell if it will be enough to put me in a quitting state of mind, but it's replaced the car smokes so far.
Hearing more of your stories gives me some optimism.

When I got mine, I had two packs of smokes left.
It was different, and when I started I would use the e-cig, but still smoke a couple of cigs a day. When I finished my last pack, I said I'm in to give this e-cig thing a go. It's clearly much better than regular smokes, and quitting cold turkey just isn't in the cards for me - never could stick it out. So I just "confined" myself to it, and after two weeks, I was completely used to it. Only caveat I'd add would be once, after about a month or two, I was out, and someone offered me a smoke, I almost took it - then said forget it, no going back!
I use the Five Pawn's juice now, Gambit or Queenside, great stuff.
Stick it out, just takes some time to get used to...

I've used an e-cig now for 1 1/2 years. I agree..... WOW did I stink when I used to smokes cigarettes, like an ash tray. I can smell a cigarette burning a mile away now..... I still have no desire to puff on a cigarette. I love the fact I can sneak a puff when needed when at a public place too...... SHHHHHH!
And another thing all the great flavors an e-cigs offer too.....Is it over there or over yonder?

I smoked like fiend most of my life 1-2 packs daily. Vaping got me off tobacco in one day and haven't touched a cigarette in 3 or 4 years. Yeah I still consume nicotine but its far more casual at this point. The big difference is my athletic ability came back I am no longer winded when attempting to do exercise, running what have you and I don't wake up in the morning and spend the first hour of my day coughing up yesterdays cigarette smoke. Good or bad for you the jury is out but my body tells me it is certainly better and do not feel the horrid effects of inhaling tobacco smoke. Im not all that crazy about the fruity tasting e liquids I tend to like spicier tobacco like flavors Bobas Bounty by alien visions and Long bottom leaf, shire malt by e pipe mods. My go to vapes. I agree with Phrank that Five Pawns make some damn good liquids albeit pricey.
Don't drink and shave!

Has anyone out there joined CASAA? Some politicians are trying to get the government to ban the use of e-cigs & the liquids as some of you might know. I saw this when I went into the Vape store down the street to buy my liquids one day & so I joined & have been keeping up with it & signing petitions & such. Just Google CASAA & you can see from there & sign the petitions & take any surveys you can. I meant to post this when I first found out about this a few weeks ago.

I have joined and done a bunch of surveys and such. Have wrote a couple things for them as well. I think that their rules are going to go through. The government wants their money and see this as an untapped market. It could make an illegal market like current drugs. More likely, it will just create a monopoly with Dura smoke as the only major company that can afford those major fees. It will probably push hobbyists such as myself into lower resistance and higher nic so that it is simply a means to support the habit than something fun to play around with.
This leads me to my new purchase. I bought the JUUL system yesterday for $50. Pretty reasonable price, nice flavor in the tobacco and mint cartridges. What's interesting is that it is 5% nicotine, versus my usual 0.6% in my more powerful and bulkier devices. However, there is more throat hit but less than expected. The place that I buy my juice can't keep these on the shelves. If this company can live through the regulations, it will probably be my go to device, with a couple "if's". Current cartridges are ~$17-$18 per 5 pack from my store. I estimate I could go through 1 to 2 per day if I rely only on this device. IF the company lives, IF they won't end up costing me an arm and a leg to continue.
Or, I'll end up just purchasing the nicotine replacement pills and use them. They're minty, small and work well as long as you don't drink anything with them. Takes a bit to get a fix. I usually rub the mint over my cheek with my tongue to jump start it. Like slurrying with nicotine! As far as the drinking (anything, even water), ever had too much nicotine in the stomach? Not. Recommended. Oddest nausea sensation I have ever had.
