Thanked: 36I'd be ll over the miniatures if I still lived in the UK. They aren't easy to come by here in Norway, but it's a great way to sample a lot of different whiskys for not too much money. A friend here got an advent calendar from his wife one year with a different miniature every day. I have to say i was more than a little jealous.

I try to buy something new at least every other bottle, and I typically keep a few on hand for variety and comparison. I too don't think that one drink is enough to get a real sense of something.

I fully agree that a dram isn't enough to have a rounded solid experience of a particular whisky. I'm about halfway done with a bottle of Bunnahabhain 12 and I don't "know" the whisky.
The reason I'm stepping into the realm of miniatures is to be able to sample far more whiskys than I'd ever be able to afford even if just a taste...

Looking at your shopping list you may like some Japanese whiskies.
These are 2 samplers I received from Japan. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
