    Default Whisky Miniatures?

In the interest of expanding my Whisky palette I've placed an order for a bunch of miniature bottles of single malt scotches and a few Irish Whiskeys. I plan on continuing with this method. Paying approx $5 per sample sure beats dropping $50-$100+ for full size bottles that would take me a very long time to consume.

Does anyone else use miniatures to sample?

I've never been able to make up my mind on one small drink, I agree it's hard to spend a lot on a full bottle , maybe if a guy could share a bottle , for me a new whiskey takes a couple of glasses to find out the true flavor, but then again maybe it's just me, a miniature bottle just teases me. I hear ya. For me a taste even if not enough to decide is better than nothing. I got 10 different miniatures coming to me for $129 (shipping is steep at $40+). If I bought 10 bottles of the good stuff, that could be around $1K. The liquor stores around me only have syrupy looking vodka nips or JD from what I've seen.

I've been lucky to have several friends with far better knowledge than myself so I get a lot of taste testing at their expense also a father that when he was around was quiete the spirit expert , so I got to try his naturally , , I guess I,m kinda simple though , I really like my Knob Creek , so I really don't have a lot of money tied up in it. Good luck in your venture and let us know how it turns out , Tc

I have bought a couple of miniatures for test driving a particular drink. The downside is that the whiskys I would like to try aren't available in miniatures.
Master of Malt in the UK has dram-sized offerings of a wide variety of whiskeys from around the world but the shipping to the U.S. is outrageous.

I saw that. Whisky Exchange in the UK also ships to the U.S. and they have some brands I would like to try. I think I will bite the bullet and try them next.

I've got the following miniatures on order:

    Arran 10 Year
    Deanston 12 Year
    Glenlivet 12 Year
    Glenmorangie
    Jameson
    Kilchoman Machir Bay
    Ledaig 10 Year
    Macallan 12 Year
    Teeling Irish Whiskey
    Tobermory 10 Year

I believe I had Jameson and Glenlivet years ago; interested enough to bring my memory up to speed on them, but not enough to buy bottles of either. I think the miniatures will serve their purpose in that regard.

Narrow it down to the best two and let me know. I've already tryed the Glenlivet and the Macallan. Tc

I will. Glad to. It'll be a tough job, but I'll take one for the team.
