Thanked: 4826We had our first big blow the night before last. Winds at 70kn and a lot of rain. There is another one that is suppose to peak out a little more than that that is brewing up right now. When the weather gets crazy here, there are no planes in or out and the ferry gets canceled. No mail and no freight. We only get two ferries a week so when you miss one it backs things up. So it is definitely fall here too. Winter is coming for sure.

I have noticed a big change in the tree foliage the last several days. I went hiking yesterday and the woods were very yellow.
p.s. Winter is Coming!

Thanked: 4826I want to go somewhere that gets gets a colorful fall. Ours leaves don't really change and fall off, they get ripped off in the wind. Some fall I will go for a very long drive in my car and see a lot of that.

The leaf in the photo is from an Aspen, which is rare around here. Our forests are mostly oak and hickory which aren't particularly colorful, lots of rusty shades. Notable exceptions are sumac (scarlet) and cottonwood (yellow). I'll try to take some more pics in terms next week.

It's a great time to ride the bike over to North Carolina , the turning leaves over in the Smokies are something to see. I love this time of year , you can ride all day. Tc

OMG.... That area is so gorgeous in the fall...... I used to live 2 1/2 hours away from Asheville, NC. We always would stop in Black Mountain and take in the views. Even on family vacations visiting my Mom in SC, we would stop a day or 2 there and just take in the atmosphere. I so miss the mountains. It's so flat here in Saskatchewan.....
I have a ton of leaves to rake in the yard. Was going to do it today...... BUT it's raining!!!!Is it over there or over yonder?

We don't have much of a fall in the High desert. leaves don't change. probably in mid to late November we'll have our first freeze and all the leaves will fall to the ground all at once with the first breeze. if you go into the mountains though it full of aspen and you can look up at them and see the color change.
We had plenty of rain this year so the trees in the mountains are loaded with nuts and berries. Usually around now you hear a knock on the door and there's a family of Black Bears begging for food. Not this year though. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
