Thanked: 55Very true. Was gardening over the last summer, quite a few customers were elderly and living alone. Would sometimes have to remind myself not to feel guilty for chatting away and not working as they seemed to appreciate that as much as the work. Just knock a half hour off the bill at the end of the day because there was no chance I was going to charge for interesting conversation. Find myself missing the banter with these interesting people now.

I am old (67) but I have a wonderful wife and children who I am in touch with every day. In thanks for that, I try to give back by saying something regularly to everyone I know who is lonely. If you're a lonely one, and I haven't reached out, PM me...that's all

It's a good thing to put yourself in other's shoes and spend a bit of time when they need it.
Many put themselves in a lonely spot, some have had it eventually happen.
Not anyone can console and lift them up at times. Some like where they are, it would seem.
I always figure it will be me someday, or my wife. I try to exercise patience and try to help the old folks out as I can.
Now teens? Have never been able to convince them of much. Best to just be around as they need you."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
