It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Wow! Those were cool! I totally dig the ivory-stocked Winchester of the Mexican president.
I suppose the Nizam of Hyderabad was a bad mofo!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Yeah, those people whose stuff is being auctioned had some serious hardware. Didn't take any of it with them when they went either.
Neither will we for that matter ........ where your treasure is .........Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

When I look at the guns in this level of auction, I am filled with admiration. I don't have admiration for the owners of the guns. I don't care that much about the owners of the companies that produced them except they must have put into place a standard of excellence that must be adhered to. But I have the deepest respect for all the craftsman who added their hand work to fabricate the firearms. And hats off to everyone who sourced materials, who planted the walnut trees and cared for them...to everyone who would settle for nothing less than the best.

I wonder how they will deal with the ivory stocked Winchester 1866. Didn't Obama declare all interstate ivory sales illegal, even antique?
