Ideas for a Shave Den Shelf/Cabinet
A little after I started DE shaving back in September I remodeled my 1/2 bath.
I had a sink, shelf/cabinet, and mirror set that I was going to get.
Low and behold they discontinued the cabinet so I put our old shelf back on the wall.
Now that I have moved to straights and started picking up some things the wife has been suggesting that I build a shelf with the top made for bottles, maybe a razor holder built in, and other random ideas. I really don't know where to go, whether buy or build and how to design it.
The shelf is currently above the toilet and I have have a table and scroll saw that I piddle with.
Would love to see how some experienced shavers are set up in their shave den that I may possibly get some ideas, suggestions, and lessons learned.....

Straight razors can be hung by their tails from cheap rare earth magnets. They take up less shelf space that way.

Thanked: 1184Looks like what you have works except for a couple of mods and maybe make one 8 times as big :<0) Ummmm where is your strop collection going to hang ?

Thanked: 1184I like my razors in the medicine cabinet because it keeps the steam from the shower off them. Half bath means you probably don't have to worry about that. That said I also made sure my brushes hang below my razors so they don't get dripped on. There are things to consider but I like building my own stuff as much as possible. If you sit and visualize all you stuff and how it all works together you could build something unique that is exactly what you want. Use and mod what you got to figure that out and what ever you do add some room for the future.
My next mod is going to be just that....a room :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 250I'm seriously thinking of having a lockable shave cabinet made because some of my visitors have little kids. As much as I like to show off my method of shaving to the world it would break my heart to see a curious little one get hurt.

Another thing to keep in mind...do you have a cat? They love to play with things on a surface. Buddy has cats and could not understand why his razors got chips...yup!

Thanked: 228You definitely need a bigger shelf! That would not do for most of us here. Put on that thinking cap and build a bigger set up so you can get more stuff!
