    Default Frost-hardy cacti

I recently found out about frost-hardy cacti. Apparently Opuntia fragilis occurs as far north as 8° south of the Arctic Circle.
Here in Germany quite a few specialist nurseries have great collections.
I bought a few and planted them today. Although some of them should be able to withstand rain I'll keep sheltered from rain.

Anyone else here that has any experience with keeping frost-hardy cacti?

BTW I have toyed with the idea of posting this under the subforum knives and other sharp things.

That's the prickly pear. That plant has saved many a travelers life. You can squeeze out water if you had to.

This part of the States is high desert and it gets into the teens and below at night and in the 30s in the winter during the day. Parts up north get way colder and those guys do very well.

Definitely a missed opportunity to post it in the other sharp things....
