IRobot
Ok guess I should have asked first, but anyone got any experience with them in your home? My wife wanted sonething to cut down on daily cleaning of our hardwood floors. Between the dog dragging in grass clippings and us( we have Bermuda grass) plus it's a lot for her lately and she won't let me hire a maid. So she has been looking at them for a while, so I get on their website and order the newest best most powerful.
So please anyone have one and do you like it? After the battery charges I'll see how our 7# Yorker likes it! Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

I had one for years, was hilarious.
Had a docking station, and at night, we'd go to bed, and the thing would go out and vacuum all the floors and the carpet in the kitchen and the family room, I'd say close to 800 to 1,000 sq ft(we'd close the doors to other sections of the house so it wouldn't take off to other areas). We would come down in the morning, and the floors would be gleaming, it micro-vacuums, and we'd always laugh at how absolutely clean it got everything, and incredibly fresh and clean smelling. Carpets were great, it would finish it's job and then return to its station and charge.
You can't have carpets with tassles or loose string like decoration, have to make sure the area doesn't have obviously things that will clog it up, but the thing rocked.
My wife is a dog person, I am not, the dog destroyed the iRobot, whereas my crazy cats would play with it, and occasionally go to sleep on it while it rode around, was ferkin' hilarious.
There is one that will wash your floors as well...but the one that goes out and vacuums, once you get it set up right, aside from cleaning, it's hilarious to watch.....

Well that's reassuring, we have all hardwood and tile, just some area rugs that are not frilly. Would be nice if she didn't have to sweep or vacumn everyday. Yea looked at the mop one, may have to but if you don't have any muddy feet coming n. We don't mop around here very often, she's got the dog trained, she stops at the rug coming in when she's wet and waits till mommy dries her feet. And we don't walk n the house with shoes n, so it's mostly the sweeping, Bermuda is great looking lawn, but it has a lot of short dry clippings that go everywhere, sometimes it blows in the dog door straight not the living room. The wife has been looking at these for a while now, probably trying to drop a Christmas gift hint. All I know is that there are two kinds, IRobot and Shark. Not sure what the difference is.
I told her to buy whatever she wanted. It would be fun though to watch one with the cat.
I'm going to hold off until they make one that can bring me a drink.

Dyson makes one too.
If you have a complicated layout and a lot of busy furniture it can be a problem as can a dog.
if the dog has an accident you won't believe the mess it can create. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Peter I gave it to her now, the last time I gave her an appliance for a Christmas gift, I had to damn near max my Jareds account out to get her happy again. Tc

Hahahaha....I gave my wife the iRobot for Xmas as well....and it went over as Keith Richards said, "About as well as a Led Zeppelin..."...mind you, was prepared and alluded to it being a joke, and then gave her another present, but walked into that one myself....to this day, she says I gave her a vacuum cleaner for one Xmas....sheesh, every once in awhile I have to cut her off from some Phranky lovin' to remind her that ain't the truth....
Yup, longest she's made it is, let's see, 11 years now, but I'll wear her down eventually.....

It's kinda one sided when it comes to their gifts.
Nothing to do with housework for them but it's perfectly ok for them to give us a saw, drill or some kind of tool.
A cat riding on Rosie the robotic vac sounds perfectly fine to me.
