Welcome to Spring in Ontario. Worst storm for this time of year in over 35 years.
The only digging happening in the garden is by the dog. If I could only train him to dig up weeds.

I can't swear that it's true but my father who was a career employee with Green Giant told me that Corn wouldn't grow in Alaska. He said for corn to flourish it needed both sun in the day and dark at night and so when it's close to being light 24-7 it wouldn't grow. He later said they'd come up with a HyBrid that would grow in the heavy light conditions.
I gambled and put mine in two weeks ago. 20 mixed tomato plants. 10 yellow and orange bell peppers. 5 crookneck squash. 5 cucumbers. 12 broccoli. Two cukes belly-up'ed on me this week and had to be replaced. One broccoli had a mysterious break that happened yesterday or last night. I have hawks, owls and squirrels but my 6'+ fence keeps my resident herd of deer out. Also saw a box turtle finally starting to move around outside the fence. I wonder if he has a 'partner' somewhere inside the fence.
I've sweated out two near freezes already and they're talking 37 degrees tomorrow night.
I'm really liking the little Mantis tiller. I have a rear-tine Troy-Belt for the heavy work but the Mantis can really do a job on an area that has been tilled in the past.
It dropped down to 32° for a couple of hours this morning. Hopefully a couple of weeks in the ground gave them strength to withstand the drop. Wish me luck :)
