I like the coin and the "First Dollar" payment.
Back in the day...yeah, 60's. !
My brother in law was a bank clerk. He was allowed to buy rolls of coins. He took the rolls home at night and then returned them in the AM. The moral of the story was that he was aware of the change from .925 coin silver to clad copper. So he went through a couple rolls every night and returned refilled, with new mintage coins. And over time he had a great collection of silver coins, half dollars, quarters and dimes. And he also became an old coin seller and he had bought only at face value.

PS. Keep a 2$ bill in your wallet, may be good luck...but then you never know when the extra 2$ will be really handy! Garage sales especially!
By the way, silver isn't worth much now, so don't think you will make a mint buying decrepit silver coins. Only a good deal on a really fine, almost mint, coin can be of much value.Last edited by Geezer; 03-24-2018 at 05:31 PM. Reason: added info

Thanked: 315I know they aren't worth much, but to me they are worth keeping. The Indian Head penny my wife got was pretty old. I think pre-1890.
When I searched first dollar payment I just found a type of insurance.???

I had to check my wallet and I have seven of them in there.
My stash of them is running a little low and I got 30 of them when I cashed my check today.
The funnest recent use was when the Girl Scouts came to my door selling cookies. They were $4 a box. Good use for a $2 bill! When I paid the girls she got a weird look on her face and quickly went back to the Dad/chaperone pulling the wagon on the sidewalk and showed him. I couldn't hear what they were saying but watching was much fun.

Thanked: 315You know what they were saying!
"Daddy, is this real money?"
When I was kid helping my Dad cut yards there was one older gentleman that would often give me and my brother a crisp $2 for helping.
