Nice job on the brush. I like the leather accent!

@PaulFLUS I know next to nothing about guitars and still I know this one is a beauty

@stoneandstrop I still have to find a wood turner who doesn't love boxwood. A pure "butter colour" one is usually favoured, but I love this one I just cut in the garden and in the pieces of which I try to find hidden objects lol.

Indeed it would be a perfect wood for chess pieces. Do you have pictures ?

Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.

An answer completely out of my ass, with the help of chatGPT, so worth nothing of great value :
    1) on the essence of the darker wood : ChatGPT suggests rosewood or mahogany, and I think it's bull****. On the other hand "ebonized boxwood" is a common essence for black chess pieces, so I think you are right on the money.
    2) Definitely Chinese and not Indonesian

    Those look Chinese for sure.
Mine are definitely not Ebony or Rosewood. I'm pretty sure mine are Boxwood that is "ebonized"
That is quite a chess set! Is it yours?

No, it's not, both of mine are far more classic.
It just illustrated my guess about a Chinese origin quite nicely, with pièces matching yours.
And I concur, it's very nice, and a tremendous amount of pain and effort!
