Thread: Dry denim

Is there anyone here who enjoys the nice feel of good quality broken in denim? Shaving and clothes are a couple of my favourite places to spend money. I know people always give me funny looks when I say I spend 200$ on a pair of jeans, but I get the same looks when i say i shave with a straight.

At least everyone has their pair of jeans they have broken in and worn forever. I feel that dry denim gives the best break in and look and the fact that you don't wash it except for periodic times once or twice a year is always a bonus since washing takes effort...

I also like the personalized look that you get which isn't a mold that everyone else has like the current pre-faded jean fads.

Anyway just wondering if anyone else has an obsession with jeans too or would like to tell tales about their favourite ones!

are you saying you only wash you jeans once or twice a year?

I do not know what you meant by the washing thing . But I do like higher end jeands what brands to you fancy

for dry denim you only wash it once every 6 months of continuous wear. That way you get all the fading and creases to remain permanent in them. The washing enhances the contrast in the folds and gives them their unique colouring and style.
I do have some jeans that I wash more often. But to get the smell out of them I either just air them outside when it's nice or i put them in the freezer overnight. Works wonders!

I like to buy stuff that i find in local shops as oppose to buying online so far my collection has been of 7 jeans, nudie, jack and jones, I've also found I like true religion and citizens since they're comfy. But since I got my nudies I'm starting to try and find more dry denim to try out. Maybe i'll buy my first pair of Levi's soon...maybe i'm weird that i've never had a pair of levi's! they're almost the archetype and all.

I can't say I'm all that into clothes, but I've heard of dry denim before. One thing I do know is if my wife found my jeans in the freezer she'd kill me

I agree that a pare of old, broken in jeans is amazingly comfortable.

Huh...What about hygiene? Is it me or is this idea of not washing your jeans just a little bizarre and, dare I say.a little filthy?

I've never washed a pair of jeans, but once. I have them dry cleaned. Try it just once, you might end up liking the fit and feel from being drycleaned.

LIMIT

Boy howdy, you learn something new every day. I've never seen a pair of $200 jeans, and I've never heard of people not washing their jeans. I must be getting old. I just paid $14.99 a pair for two pairs last week, and all my jeans get washed pretty regularly.

$200 for jeans? That's not nearly the same as shaving with a straight razor. That's spending $200 on a pair of jeans.

Jeans are work-wear for me. And play wear. I'm sure those expensive jeans are wonderful and all, but when I got a pair of jeans on, and something on my hand that shouldn't be there, that thing gets transferred to the jeans post-haste.

Most of my jeans are within the 250-300$ range. I wear Take-Two and G-star.

Most are 'take-two' the italian designers.
