anyways. why is it that they dry out and won't stay soft and tad squishy, like when i buy them, in my humidor after a couple weeks?

    thanks for the help

ps. love those arturo fuente - chateau fuente's... so tastey

I've noticed that keeping my humidors, and coolidors stocked makes them more stable then having them near empty. Do you have a digital hygrometer? If so, is it calibrated?

I do the same thing. Except I leave a few with the cellophane on so I can use them as dividers to prevent mixing of flavors.

It sounds to me like your hygrometer is inaccurate. If your cigars were really at 70-72 percent, they wouldn't dry out. If I were you, I'd do a salt test to calibrate your hygrometer.

He, he, haven't you heard of CAD? I aspire to have only 200 cigars.

I take the wrap off, I keep many flavors in my humidor, and I enjoy letting them all blend. my really fancy "special occasion" stogies (like the cubans I smuggled in thru new zealand) stay in their tubes, individually humidified, to prevent watering down their flavor.

prolly got about 150 cigars in the humidor right now, it's pretty full. I keep 2 humidifiers (one traditional, one gel) in it and monitor it with both digital and analog hygrometers.

I used to do the 50/50 water/PPG thing with the green florist's foam, but found that I preferred my smokes a little drier. I've been happy with the 65% humidity beads from here.
I use a few pounds in my fridgeador to keep my stash (1200+) smokeable.

I prefer them at 65% better too.

I agree. The mass of cigars tend to act as its own humidifier. Much less humidification needed.

I take the wrappers of my cigars when storing them in my humidor. . .
