Meerschaum Pipes, anyone?
Who else on this forum (besides me ) likes to smoke out of these? What does yours look like? What types of tobacco do you like to smoke? Cheers!

I actually smoke cigars but have one of these pipes that my uncle got for me while he was in Iraq last year. It's an eagle head with "Harley-Davidson" below it (I work for Harley and am an avid rider). I've considered smoking out of it but haven't yet.

I have a calabash Meerschaum, an honest to gosh Sherlock Holmes special. Well, Basil Rathburn anyway. It is kind of neat to light it up now and then.

I've got four. I really did like the way the smoke tasted out of these. They are:
A Holmes and Watson set
A simple 1/2 bent apple shape
and a calabash, real gourd with a Meerschaum bowl.
The Calabash was great to smoke different flavor since the smoke was so cool, but I alway felt funny smoking this huge honking gourd.
Since I gave up smoking these now decorate my library, and none of them have color to compare to what Mparker has. I love the dragons egg.

Thanked: 346I've got a couple of calabashes as well, but I don't smoke them very much since Balkan Sobranie and Bengal Slices disappeared from the market. These are the only two tobaccos that I really love in a Calabash. Every now and then I'll crack open one of my few remaining tins of Bengal Slices and fire up a Calabash.
As for coloring, a coloring bowl like the one shown with the Cavalier is really the secret. I've got three coloring bowls, a smooth meer, a pebbled meer (shown w/ Cavalier), and an XL briar coloring bowl made for me by Mike Butera after much hounding. AFAIK it's the only one in existence, and I use it for smoking my english tobaccos in my meerschaums.Last edited by mparker762; 04-13-2008 at 02:59 PM.

This thread makes me want to take up smoking again.
I know I can't, quiting was the hardest thing I've done and I won't go back now, but the thing I miss most is a pipe.

I have one in the shape of Sherlock Holmes. I mainly smoke English
blends so that's what I smoke in that one.
