I was a dedicated bourbon man, and I also enjoyed gin and tonic. Those two are still good, but a few years ago my girlfriend introduced me to scotch. Thanking her as best as I could, I purchased a beautifull diamond ring and asked her to marry me.
Guys, when you find one who can teach you about scotch, you don't let her go!

I am a beer an wine man, but when we get into hard alcohol, I am a huge Fan of samalens. It is the best Armagnac, has a bit of a bite, but it is smooth and oh so good. I will occasionally have a glass on the rocks after dinner, so a bottle last me awhile.

From Beer to Campari
I like enjoying different beverages (including alcoholic beverages), but I do not like getting drunk. I believe that it takes the palatal enjoyment away at short term and the enjoyment of the body (specifically my head) at longer term.
I like Belgium and micro-brewery beers. Of the latter, I miss Columbus Brewing Company's IPA (perfect round taste) and Great Lakes' Nosferatu (seasonal red ale "with a bite") or Commodore Perry (a grapefruity (to my taste buds) IPA).
On the harder side, I like gin & tonic, single malt scotch and Campari.
Scotch: I pour myself a serving and I drink a generous amount of water in between sips of scotch. This way, a serving of scotch lasts me a good 45 minutes or so. I cannot get drunk at this rate and it is all enjoyment and relaxation (like smoking a good pipe tobacco).
Gin & tonic: I drink it by itself and at a faster rate. Hence, the chances of going beyond the abovementioned enjoyment is riskier.
Lastly, I love Campari with soda. It is a bitter-sweet liquor (more on the bitter side) with a relatively low alcohol content. I drink it at the same rate of gin & tonic, with the enjoyment results of scotch.
I like Campari with soda anytime. But more specifically, I believe that it is a nice light digestif after a good Italian dinner. When I want a less than light ending to the same, I go with either Campari straight or Averna.

Beer just kinda goes without saying for me. Mostly Anchor Steam, Stella and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
I'm also a Jameson's drinker. I also enjoy Powers and Bushmills, but Jameson's is by far my favorite.

If I have a choice, I like whiskey.... from old crow to fine single malt is good with me.
I do like Buffalo Trace though.
And I like Akavit too, and gin, tequilla, vodka is fun... sometimes a beer really hits the spot!
Upon reflection, I will drink damn near anything! Except Jager.... yuck.

Dedicated Real Ale man, I am. Just got back from a Friday and Saturday at the Cotswold Beer Festival. Some top local ciders and perries there too.
Lovely.

I like lots of different drinks, tea from TeeGschwendner at work, cendol in the garden at my parents', a nice traditional Jenever of Rutte's at my habitual café to end the work week, a fine Bas-Armagnac to match my Cubans - there's a time and a place for everything.
Right now it's a simple but very pleasant Prosecco by Casa Defra. Smells like yummie pears, tastes first sweet of raisins, then fresh of tropical fruit and elder flower and finishes with an after-taste reminiscent of toffee. Delightful!

Guinness Extra-Stout occasionally. Maybe 4 ounces of red wine w dinner 2-3 times a week.
Much more rarely: Appleton Estate Extra Rum straight, or ice-cold Jagermeister straight
