Thread: The wife sent me to the wood shed....

....and told me not to come out until her kitchen cabinets are finished.

Been kinda hiding lately working in the wood shop and thought I'd post some progress pictures of my new kitchen cabinets. This set is for the one side of the kitchen above the sink. It is made of red oak front and plywood / pine structure. The last picture shows what happens when you forget to put the car cover on your car. I still got a ways to go but I'm happy so far.

You know, there's an easy way to solve your car problem- loan it to me until the cabinets are done Beautiful cabinets though. That's awesome that you're building them yourself.

Nice looking cabinets! What finish are you planning on putting on them?

The finish will be something very light. I have to come up with a few test strips for her to decide. We may just go with clear and let the natural beauty come out.

I've had it since '86. My first car. Been through a lot since then, but kept this one alive. I've always heard the "I wish i would have kept 'X' car", so I took most of that as good advice and kept my car. It was hard to hang onto in the early stages of family life, but worth it in the long run.

You did the right thing. My very first truck was a 55 Chevy, had it before the Buick, wish I'd kept both.

Nice work Jerry! Very nice work. I love oak. I replaced the plastic trim in my car with oak.

I put in some red oak baseboards, I will have to look to see what stain I used. It was a light color to bring out the grain in the wood. Then I gave them a coat of Deft wax to seal them. I am lazy, I get the unfinished premade stuff and sand it and finish it. Nice work, your sleds look a little dusty as well.

Tell the wife I said you deserve a reward for that work, buy yourself another couple of razors.
