Since the topic has been brought up and it's not so off topic, where can one acquire a truly high quality garter belt? My wife wanted to switch to thigh highs and garter belts, but all the ones readily available seem to be designed for the bedroom, rather than for holding stockings up.

I like Hold Up's for everyday wear. They come is lots of different colours/styles and have different tops to them. You can either get plain elasticated tops or fancier lace ones. You don't need a garter or suspender belt as they stay in place themselves, so you're not sitting there waiting for the dreaded "ping" as one of your anchors breaks free and snaps you on the leg or butt.

The key to garter belts, as you colonials so quaintly call them, is the grip of the snap on the stocking top. Like all things, it seems, the better the belt, the better the snap & the more you'll pay for it. You, or your good lady, will have to tension the strap right. Tight isn't always best. Play around some.

As to where to get such confections, I have to say, check out your lingerie store/department & ask there. They know what they sell, mostly, & won't laugh. You'll feel very knowledgeable & smug, especially if you're carrying a little bag... The best ones I've ever, ahem, come across are by Rigby & Peller. Like a TI, very pretty, very ££$$$

In the military, they use garters to make their class A uniform shirts look nice and stiff instead of starching them. There are 4 garters (2 in front, 2 in back) that goes from the shirt to the socks. Not quite what your wife may be looking for, but it works for us. I use them in all of my formalwear tuxedoes and suits alike.

My only contribution is that corsets are fantastically sexy apparel. Fantasticly... Leather, hummmm. I like the ones that look like the 1840s-90s in the old west. Cotton and lace, maybe a ribbon or two and a little dusty and worn looking and certainly overflowing at the top.

Got a terrible mobile phone camera mutant thing If I still had my OM1, it would be a different story. It's all auto every bloody thing & cannot take a decent pic. Or at least I can't make it do so
