it dosent help that i get back to mn with one week left of archery season in dec. But i love it anyway. My younger sister(15) set a state record in a target compitition last year and is on her way to a state championship this year.

I bowhunt in Virginia: both Northern Virginia when visiting my mother, and here in Blacksburg where i live (Southwest). Both are for whitetail, and I'm thinking of getting the components to convert my bow to a bowfishing bow, and then buying a new Hoyt Katana. I shoot my bow about twice a week shooting at a 3-D deer target, and try to hunt one of the days on the weekend. No deer this season but i have had to work alot on the weekends. I also still have till March 28th.
My current bow is a Mountaineer Archery 3D bow. I originally had it for target shooting but i have gone onto deer hunting. Here is my baby. And no one make fun of my small cams. But hey, I don't need to compensate for anything.

YEP!
I put the "training wheels" down this year.
So I used to shoot a Mathews Feathermax for the better part of a decade, then a Martin Bengal, and now a 68" longbow.
Love it, Love it, Love it. Even if this means 20 yards is my absolute max again.
Never got a good buck with bow.

An old Bear Grizzly recurve, plain except for camo painted w custom Delrin rest and string silencers, 58", 60 or 65 pounds.
Fiberglass arrows w L. helical fletching.
Bear, Wasp, or Black Diamond points.
Short armguard, standard glove release and don't use sights.
Steiner binoculars, bottle of fox pee, modified Gilly suit.
Dying rabbit and rodent distress calls.
Small bag w various equipment, snacks, etc...
The largest was a buck w about 8 1/2 points and field dressed something over 200 lbs (estimated). That was in ≈1984. The meat was a bit on the tough side, but still tasty in a stew or jerked.

Archery and bowhunting is my favorite pastime... I have been shooting bow since I was 4 years old and am now 50.. whoa.... where did the years go ...
Mostly shoot traditional equipment now but also have compound bows and all the related goodies.
Started making my own self longbows quite a few years ago and that is mostly what I carry in the woods now.
My favorite is an Elm sinewbacked recurve covered with Gartersnake skins that I built the other winter..
best buck..a 156", 10 point that gave me a 10 yard shot right at sunset one year, I was sitting on the ground beside some shrubs and he just walked inlove it when that happens.... to rare..
Here's a couple pics of my gear...
sorry for the mess..

Went early this morning to the post office to pick up my new toys. Spent some time setting up limb alignment and did a rough brace and tiller adjustment.
Now if only I could shoot this bad boy so I could set up the sight.
I am every happy with the new items. The limbs are very smooth when drawn.
Limbs are Hoyt F7 limbs rated 34 pounds. I wound the bolts out so they are closer to around 30 now so I can get used to the extra weight.
Sight is a sure loc quest-x
Here are some crappy cell phone pics lol.

Very nice basil!!! I'm curious does it shoot a little heavier than its rated? I've heard of a few people saying Hoyts tend to shoot a little heavier than their actual rated poundage.
SVMAD, I'm shooting a 60lb. recurve with a 28" draw length. Was thinking of 5" feathers, 29" aluminum easton shafts, and a 125 gr field point. For now I"m strictly target shooting.
