Garlic Is Good
Fresh Garlic contains ALLIIN, a substance that helps kill bacteria. It is released better when garlic is crushed. During WWI garlic and garlic juice were used to kill bacteria in wounds. When I get the flu or any kind of infection I eat large amounts of chicken noodle soup with much diced garlic stirred in. It works. Garlic also stabilizes blood pressure. Garlic surfaces in history. It was recognized for being healthful food way back in time. I am having some with my supper right now. Good stuff.

Thanked: 68Resurrection of an old thread
Was looking through the "Finer Things" before starting a new thread on clocks and discovered this thread. As Garlic is one of my favourite ingredients I couldn't help but add my approval.
We use it in most of our cooking, fortunately my wife approves too. It goes in most dishes and often pierce a lamb roast and insert whole cloves of garlic (and maybe a mint leaf) before cooking. Great just roasted with the other veges when doing any meat. I enjoy it raw from time to time and the kids do too. They started on raw garlic at about 18 months old.
Had a friend years ago who was also mad on raw garlic and we did chocolate dipped cloves... that was a fun combination.Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!

i'm also a garlic fanatic and used to work at the stinking rose infact.. in my younger years just starting out as a linecook..
anyway.. i puree my garlic in the food processor with a small amount of olive oil and some kosher salt to help preserve.. i then freeze the puree into ice cube trays and just throw in a cube or two whenever a dish needs it..

I had garlic ice cream a few years ago. Different!
Someone mentioned using the green tops if you grow your own. I have a load of wild garlic (known as Ramsons here) growing in the nearby woods. The tops make a delicious rissotto. Not as strong as the cloves but a lovely flavour.

I love garlic. Garlic bread, garlic mayonnaise and whatever the recipe book says I have to use, I usually end up using twice that.
Fortunately SWMBO likes it as well, so we can be garlic-y together lol..!

Thanked: 101I am a garlic FIEND!!! Much to the displeasure of my wonderful wife! I like it on just about anything. Here lately I have been eating Di Allo "pickled" garlic and it is awesome!! It does not have the burn as raw garlic does, but it still has the tang!!

I love garlic as well and always wanted to hit the annual festival held in Gilroy , Ca.
A few times a week I make a super health tonic using two table spoons of Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in a glass of water , clove of chopped garlic , and a small red onion.
Great stuff, except my wife sure complains about it.
