You are being the best pup dad possible and he knows it. The antibiotics will mess with his gut. I have found using a probiotic and live yogurt has helped restore my dogs’ digestion when they have a stomach issue - and they seem to like the taste.
I hope the antibiotics work for him. I lost my Sam to cancer 2 years ago and wish I had known about that possible treatment then.

I got up today & he was skeptical about me feeding him & it made me feel bad but when I got the meat treats out for when we go on walks, that changed everything. He also loves the Nutter Butter's so I may be able to slip an antibiotic in one. I cut back on the antibiotics. He was fine at first but they finally were getting to him & I felt so sorry for him the previous 2 nights but tonight he's doing okay. I think I'll slip him one when we have our Nutter Butters soon. It's always a nightly treat for both of us so he's always waiting for that. I got out the receipts for the previous vet since I got to where I didn't like them much & they doctored upon the receipt not showing any weight increase. That really upset me me off but I figured they were covering their asses just in case I were to ask why they didn't do anything about the weight increase when he gained 10 lbs a few years ago. They also screwed up on the receipt saying he was a year older than he really was. It said I first brought him in in 2010 & that he was 2 years old but that was bs. I didn't even have him yet because in I rode to Milwaukee on my Harley for the 105th anniversary in August '08. I got him
from my ex gf in the beginning of '10 when we split up & he was born around august of '09. I found this animal hospital I took him to 2 1/2 weeks ago when I had a Dr's appt right near them. I've heard nothing but good things about them & it's a much cleaner place than the other one. The only reason I went to the other one was a friend of mine who is also into straight razors told me his daughter was doing intern work there at the time & that was in '10. I'll never tell anyone to go to that one. The last time I was there, the dr was rubbing his leg before giving him a shot & he didn't like it & snapped at him. The dr got kinda angry at me & told me my dog was aggressive but he didn't like that plus he's just protective over me because I spoil him so much.
Sad day in the house.
My pally boy has gone ahead. Quietly today lying in a sun patch in his favorite room.
We had a bonus two months of his company once his kidney issue was determined, and he was present and protective every single day of his 16+ years.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Pal, Mike.
So sorry to hear that about your boy. You have sixteen wonderful years to look back and remember all that he gave you. A salute to your pretty boy and his memory.
That sounds like a fitting and lasting tribute to Pal. 16+ years is a good run. Sounds like he had a very good life and left it happy and in peace.
Every time I see a similar post in this thread, I have to look away for a while before I can respond. It’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t experienced it what losing a dog feels like. He will always be with you.

Mike, I'm very sorry for your loss. I too have a heavy heart today. I just lost my best buddy just before 6pm. He had been active with the cancer & it was caught too late plus the vet said that the cancer he had is one of the worst ones for them to have. He did great for 2 weeks & a week ago, I took him to get his staples out & he was strong like he's always been. They even said he seemed fine so far but they knew by what he was diagnosed with that he was going to pass away. They gave him 1-3 months. We even went for a walk last Sunday & he was pulling like he does plus we went for a walk Monday & Tuesday. I noticed he wasn't pulling as strong as he was the day or two before plus he started getting bloated again so I knew it was coming & it came fast but he was a strong boy. He jumped up yesterday when Fedex made a delivery & again this morning some guys were going door to door trying to sell steaks & seafood & he jumped up barking & raising hell when he heard the doorbell ring. I was pissed because they aren't supposed to be soliciting here unless they have a permit around their neck but it took a lot of energy from him. He ate some meat treats I have for him but he wouldn't eat anymore of the Nutter Butter cookies or anything else. He had been drinking lots of water the last few days so I would change his water each time he drank some. I tried to give more of the meat treats this afternoon & he turned his nose away from them. Now my best buddy of 9+ years has passed on. He was faithful & loyal to me for many years.
You're not alone Mike & our buddies are in doggie heaven. I'm hurt about my best buddy but I knew it was coming. :(
All dogs go to heaven.............
