The wife and I have 3 Chocolate Labs. We started out with one female, then decided we need another so she wouldn't get lonely when we were gone. When he got old enough, we decided to breed the two. At one time we had six 80-115 lb lap dogs! Unfortunately, the "mama" dog passed away earlier this year, and the two young boys ran off one night to never return. So I'm down to 3.Attachment 146801 And that my friends, is why I sleep with my face covered.
Our hairless wonder...

This one is Alex. She gets on the bed, licks my face, and rolls all over us. If we try to ignore her, we eventually get clawed in the face.
My guess is that you will never be able to teach fox like you can teach dogs. Not just because dogs should know who is the leader on the family but for their own safety as well. I do not know if they breed fox in the US but not here.
However, you can teach fox to get familiar with people, but it will always be wild by nature.
Happens every now and then that matrosen in my base teach and train fox to be familiar with people. They give 'em food occasionally until those animals eat from hand and let even scratch behind their ears. I've told not to do it too often as these animals still need to be able to get their rabbits from the nature. Here's the latest dude that lives somewhere near the dock place of my ship. Obviously it's female as our matrosen named it Mielikki. I took these pics few days ago while it was sleeping in a sunny spot near my ship.
Another clue i told our boys was not to say a word to our MP's. There are too many sad examples what happens when those rednecks hear about wild animals that has become too friendy with our boys and girls of the ship.

We have Leonberger dogs. Here's a portrait of SWMBO with two of them:

My baby girl Charlie will be dearly missed. We saved her over 11 years ago. She was loud, she howled like a werewolf, but she was my 60 pound lap dog. She was mostly Viszla with some hound in her. Best dog ever for me. Thank you in advance for the support I know will come from all the kind souls here at SRP.
:(:(:(
It's never easy but it's the last kindness you will do her. Think of the life she had with you.
I agree with Dave, Gonzo. It's never pleasant to have to let go like that, but you've spared her a long period of pain. I feel your pain...
