Now that I'm retired I don't have to worry about dress shoes except for very limited occasions however I bought a pair of Bostonian Cordovan leather shoes probably 20 years ago and I still have them and they continue to improve and look better year by year. I've also learned that cheap shoes are just that. These days I mainly wear Mephisto's. yes they cost a mint but they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had and they stand up very well to wear. I have some I bought 10 years ago and they still serve very well.

Mephisto.
I bought them on sale at 50% off. They are usually over 200$ for a pair. Mine still costed 120 euros.
They're a bit like dress style full leather, ankle high hiking shoes. All seams double or triple stiched, full leather interior.
They are extremely comfortable. When it comes to shoes I never skimp because I wear them up to 16 hours per day, so they have to be comfortable. It's also a fact that expensive shoes are cheaper than cheap shoes in the long run, because they last a long time if properly cared for.
My wife doesn't like the style of these shoes (she says I dress as an old man sometimes ) but this is one of those very rare cases where I said to her: 'Honey, I think they look great, they are comfortable, I am buying them, and that's that'Last edited by Bruno; 12-16-2008 at 01:39 PM.

Well Bruno, I have a few pairs of Mephisto shoes and love them! True, they are "expensive" but what do you expect from french handmade walking shoes? Truthfully, they are "cheap" as the factory will resole them for $99...and will come back looking brand new! They last years..........
