    My cabinets were that way originally (no hardware). After a few months fingernail scrapes started to show up above the drawers that got used all the time. The wife would open them by using the top angled lip but in the process her nails or wedding ring would rub against the frame and started to scratch it up so I put basic polished brass handles on everything.

    I would have used the same finish ply on the inside as well. It would save a bunch of money, no one would ever see it and the ply is usually stronger than solid wood.
