I was thinking more like under $30, but that Jimador you brought to the get-together was awesome.

    Default EW Single Barrel

Don't forget that EW Single is a vintage bottling and varies somewhat from year to year. In good years (like '96 and'98) its spectacular. In weaker years its only terrific. If you want consistantly great at that price point try Eagle Rare.

2Sharp, excellent rum choices!!!! Both Pampero and Zacapa are among my, and other people's, favorites; fairly affordable too. I have some Pyrat and Matusalen as well. I do not like Matusalen as much as the first 2 but without a doubt it is an excellent product. Pyrat is a fairly "strange" spirit with a fairly unusual aroma and taste for an aged rum. When I am in the mood for something different, and citrus is the wave, I go to Pyrat!!! I have another couple of "weird" tasting ones as well ;-). It is funny, I have tried to find out how they obtain the profile of Pyrat but have not obtained any meaningful info. Perhaps you know something about it. I like tequila as well but I do not know nearly as much about them.

Good news, I just picked up a bottle of Clement rhum, unfortunately, not the 1952.

Hello Al. Some time ago I wrote down my impressions on several Rums. It is not a complete review by any means. It is just a comparison between the ones that I tried. The prices are outdated and the ones with a zero are the ones I haven't tried yet. My favorite is El Dorado 21 year. The orange flavor in Pyrat probably comes from a concentrated orange oil or zest. Just a guess.
