The downside of shooting, and an idea
over the Christmas break I went shooting with my wife's brother, dad and stepbrother. they don't have any guns so I went ahead and took them. Took 6 handguns. well tonight I finally got around to cleaning them. 4 of them at least. i clean slow, becasue I'm a bit anal about it I guess. anyways, it is always the downside of shooting. and of course nobody that goes shooting with you ever volunteers to help clean them.
So I was sitting here and had a great idea. Next time I'm going to hire somebody else to clean them for me. i.e. there is this really really stunning temp that works for us right now, sweet thing too. I'd much rather pay her 8 bucks an hour to clean them and I just hang out and chat with her, maybe even help with the cleaning. be a damn site better than rock in the background and enjoying Hoppes by myself.
you guys think that's a good idea?

PS
I was pleasantly surprised that despite having hardly shot the last couple of years I am still the same as before (be that good or bad, at least I hit the target where I was trying to most of the time )

Well, in order for us to be able to form an educated opinion if it is a good idea or not you'll have to post a picture of this stunning temp.
Anyway, to share Hoppe's # 9 is always good my favorite gun cleaning stuff.

If you are like me, you won't be happy with how any one else cleans the guns. So I would have to say bad idea, however maybe pay her the $8 an hour to hang out and talk to you while you clean them....

I think it’s a fine idea, I’ve been cleaning guns for my family & friends (sometimes paid) for years, and I have to say I find it enjoyable. I’m a bit anal too about how they are cleaned and handled so I tend to take my time cleaning.

Unless she's a shooter herself, I'd say that's a little iffy. The last thing you need is a scratched barrel or gunk in the action. Get a boresnake and some spray- 6 handguns will take you less than 15 minutes

I am a bit anal about it. I have a couple of snakes and use them for light cleaning or in the past if I was shooting A LOT I would periodically run one through. but on the wheel guns it takes a lot to get them really clean. I was out of gun scrubber which i like. I always at least open the hoppes and decant it but much prefer blue wonder for actually getting things clean.
I like the idea of at least paying her to hang out, I'll just put her in charge of rubbing them down with Sheath afterwards. slowly...

In that case, watch yourself for possible sexual harassment issues. This is nothing against your character, especially since I don't know you, it just pays in this touchy feely world to be on your guard. As a guy, we're guilty until proven innocent when it comes to that kind of crap Stupid HR degree...it's always getting in the way

quit wasting your time scrubbing and scraping and buy yourself and ultrasonic cleaner.
best money i ever spent, i just take the gun apart, dump it in the cleaner with some hoppes9 (or benchrest, if i've been using copper bullets) and let it run for 5 minutes. then wipe it dry and i'm done.

I don't think I could trust anyone else to clean my guns. In addition, I still enjoy cleaning them myself. There is something nostalgic about it, especially when breaking down and cleaning older guns, such as my father's M1 Garand.
+1 on Hoppes 9

what does the ultrasonic cleaner do with grips? like on my s&w with the wood handles? I think that's what police armorer's use, a friend once told me that he did a ride along type thing and got a tour and saw that they did that, just dropped their guns into something. I figured maybe they were issue glocks which probably don't have anything that would react to solvents anyways.
