Thanked: 278It seems a little harsh to describe Bombay and Tanqueray as standard, but I'm sure you mean standard good stuff.
Bombay Sapphire can be quite heavenly. I have a bottle here right now but no tonic water.

Thanked: 234I haven't had a G&T for nearly a year!
Gordons is the 'go to' Gin, I don't actually think we have any in the house at the moment.

I like Tanqueray No.10 and Hendricks for straight drinking, and Bombay for fancy ginnentonix.
Regular Tanqueray or el cheapo for standard ginnentonix.
Ford Prefect would approve of this thread.

Thanked: 335Booths -- some of the best juniper juice going and it comes in a blue bottle, that's gotta be worth some extra points.

Thanked: 293I used to be much more of a gin drinker than I am now. 9 times out of 10 I prefer vodka (when I'm in the mood for "clear" booze), but I was brought up on Sapphire. My favorites, however, are hendrick's and Citadelle. Hendricks is different enough from most gins (what with the cucumbers and all) to really be good for a change of pace, and Citadelle is very smooooooooooth.

I read about Bombay Sapphire in several of Dick Marcinko's books. So, I had to try it, and I've never felt the need to try anything else. Sapphire makes a great martini, and it's nice on the rocks.
