Hey boozehounds: Let's talk gin!
So, SWMBO and I have been on a martini kick these days... I think the fact that she found olives stuffed with bleu cheese might have something to do with it...
Anyway, I love good gin, so I thought I'd put out a couple suggestions for you guys and ask if you have any favorites that maybe I don't know about.
First the suggestions:
- Leopold's American Small Batch Gin - I can't sing the praises of this gin high enough. See their site and my blog post about the stuff. Best of all, the distillery is now here in Denver!
- Blackwoods Vintage Dry Gin - I've only come across this once, but boy am I glad I grabbed that bottle. It's made in Scotland, has a viking ship on the label, and is darned smooth and tasty. See their site.
- Hendrick's Gin - This is infused with cucumber, and is therefore not really what you want for your "dirty martini up with olives". It's really fantastic, though - especially in a G&T. Their site is a little obnoxious.
- The Stand-Bys - I always keep a handle of Tanqueray and a bottle of Bombay Saphire chilled in the freezer for emergencies.
I've heard intersting things about a couple new "organic" gins on the market, but haven't come across them yet.
So what about you? Any particular juniper juice you're fond of?

I always have Bombay Saphire, Beefeeter and Gordon's in my bar.
My favorite is Bombay.

Back in college, when everyone was poor and drunk all the time, the choice among my friends was Seagrams Extra Dry. It was pretty gnarly, but did the job. Before long, I tried Tanqueray and it was so much better I never felt the need to drink anything more expensive.
My tastes aren't really refined enough to notice the difference between a 30-40 bottle of something as compared to top shelf stuff.

Of course...
Just noticed the typo in the poll. So typical of me.
First option: "head" = "heard" in case you're no good at contextual interpretation...

Thanked: 39I'm not much of a spirits drinker..but the ones I'm most familiar with are gordons dry gin and beefeater.
But anyway I don't think I can tell much of a difference between gins or vodkas etc.

Thanked: 346It's Boodles for me. Tried many of the other boutiquey gins and while they were "interesting" they weren't really the sort of thing to build a long-term relationship with.

There's a tough question. I mostly drink Bombay Sapphire, but like a Tanqueray and will take whatever is put to me, but the Hendrick's sure is nice in its own way. I'm always interested in tasting another gem.
