Thread: After a hard day working nothing beats a cold beer and a nice cigar out on the deck

Spent the morning working in the yard. Around noon I took off to Home Depot for probably 600 pounds of lumber and cement then loaded it into my car (surprised the PT Cruiser took it all without having to tie the hatch open) then brought it home and moved it all into the garage. Finally I grabbed a couple beers and a Gurkha Ltd. Master Select Robusto #4, put in my ear buds (audio book... Stephen King's, The Stand) and spent a nice relaxing hour and a half sitting on my deck watching the clouds drift by and sipping a beer while I nursed a stogy.

That has to be the most relaxed I've been in a while. Talk about heavenly bliss. Now the only proper way to finish this day off is to take a nice long hot shower followed by a nice slow shave.

And you didn't even invite me...Harumpf!

I'll invite you over when all the stuff arrives for the garden.

Sounds like as good a way to finish the day off as any, what do you think of the stand? I just read it.

Good book. I've read it and watched the mini-series. Both were done really well, IMHO. I hear there is a new book with a lot more in it (Stuff he cut out of the first one) but haven't read it.

Do you know Andrew, or just find his website? He's a regular and long time well respected member on another board I used to spend a LOT more time on. (A LOT).

There's a series of pictures out there of one of those footballs getting smoked!

I am a member on another site as well and have been visiting his website for sometime just thought I would share with the guys here.

that's the one I've read. I have never seen the series, I keep meaning to pick it up - I think it would translate to the screen quite well.

All gets a bit weird, but I found the sociology really interesting.

The casting and presentation of the story were excellent. As with any other book to video conversion it suffers in some places but I think they did an excellent job making it and it holds up on its own very well.
