Default After a hard day working nothing beats a cold beer and a nice cigar out on the deck

Spent the morning working in the yard. Around noon I took off to Home Depot for probably 600 pounds of lumber and cement then loaded it into my car (surprised the PT Cruiser took it all without having to tie the hatch open) then brought it home and moved it all into the garage. After that I took a short break to cool off, eat something and rehydrate then back into the yard for round two. I finished up around 6 and went inside to cool off a bit.

Finally I grabbed a couple beers and a Gurkha Ltd. Master Select Robusto #4, put in my ear buds (audio book... Stephen King's, The Stand) and spent a nice relaxing hour and a half sitting on my deck watching the clouds drift by and sipping a beer while I nursed a stogy.

That has to be the most relaxed I've been in a while. Talk about heavenly bliss. Now the only proper way to finish this day off is to take a nice long hot shower followed by a nice slow shave.

    Sounds like a wonderful afternoon.

Audio books while smoking... how is it that I've never thought of that before. Brilliant!

Yeah I keep a couple loaded on my G1 to help me enjoy my down time. I listen while I'm out in the yard working, kicking back staring at the sky and smoking a stogy, sitting somewhere waiting for an appointment or car to get fixed or whatever.

My question is, what are you building?

Oh, the area between my house and my garage isn't fenced but the rest of the backyard is. I'm getting a dog (lab) so need to fully enclose the backyard so (s)he has somewhere to run off some energy.

The next order will have to be delivered though since it will be a few pallets of heavy crap. Cement blocks, gravel and the like for building beds for my vegetable garden. I swear if I knew owning a house meant a new project every weekend or so I would've done it a long time ago, lol. As long as my wallet can keep up.

Sounded like a fence, but I wasn't sure

I'm not sure the house projects ever end. There's always something that "needs" to be done. Last one I did was a hand dug pond, about 6 feet long and 4 feet deep at its deepest. It was complete with matching brick work around it and cement liner. Turned out great, but after that I decided that I really don't like masonry or cement laying. When I actually have a real house again, my projects will be something like "wire the house for networking" or "speakers in every room". You know, things that are easy

    Haha I know the feeling.

I bought an older house so the wiring isn't the best and there is nothing else wired. My first thing after closing was to get an electrician out to add seperate fuses and outlets for my entertainment center and a couple in my office. being a computer consultant with tons of electronics in my office and a techno junky with a pile of stuff in the living room I wasn't trusting old wiring.

While he was doing that I wired the whole house for network, coax and phones. Man do I love having a nice crawlspace under the house, heh.

Still so much to do. Need to rewire the electrical in the garage, make my beds for my garden and so much more. I swear I come up with two new projects for everyone I complete.

I just wish I had the $$ to do all the random little projects I have floating around in my head!

That does sound good & will be worth the effort when the lab arrives!

Nice cigar-!! I love the Gurkha Worriers too. Theirs nothing like relaxing with a good cigar. I second the audio books. I down load them from iTunes to listen to in my truck while driving. Good luck on the build.
