Quite the travelers here!
I've not been to some of these more exotic locales, but favorites that come to mind
1. Monterey, CA... especially during "Monterey Week" with all the vintage car stuff going on
2. Rouen France- Fun little city
3. Les Andelys France- Not really a city, more of a quaint little town, but fun anyway
4. Vienna, Austria- First place I went in Europe, was fun.

Amsterdam!
So romantic, so full of culture, laid back, pancakes, maatje herring, long lazy summer afternoons sitting outside on the corner of the canal drinking heineken in small glasses and watching people go by.
The only place I'd live outside of the UK.
Just one downside: Ajax.

Thanked: 402Well Herta BSC wouldn't be better.
From the touristic point of view, there were many places I'd like to be.
One that really burns me at the moment would be San Remo in Italy.
The medieval center "la Pigna" particularly.

Of course, that's nothing to do with the quality of the tees in that fair city, is it Mark?
Mine have to be
London: lived there for years & still love it when I go back
Amsterdam: for the galleries, obviously
Barcelona: architecture & sheer exuberance
Napoli: You just have to try it right under the volcano
Brugge: Good city with lots of great beer & food
Not sure whether I like NO or SF more....
Mumbai: You think NY gets frantic?
Hong Kong
Istanbul
There are loads more to see though....

Generally people think I'm daft when I say it, but on the East Coast of the US I really love Baltimore best. I lived in a bustlier city on that seaboard, but Baltimore was always my refuge. Had I the means (meaning a job there), I would live there in a heartbeat. I love the architecture, the "height", if you will, of the residential neighborhoods, and the general griminess of the place. But really, I love the people,
The city I was living in was very status conscious. But when I'd visit Baltimore, I'd get into the best conversations with people about the most interesting things. It wasn't liek they were hitting on us, it was just people talking to people because we would all be in the same (bar, yes ) room. It is Charm City, indeed.
On the West Coast, I like San Francisco best, but really SF circa 1986... When I could afford it! It's the best walking around city if you have the endurance. I still thank my mother for moving us there when she did.
At this point, I am looking for a new favorite city on the West Coast for settling in purposes.

Well, I didn't travel much so far, but the cities I've been, these were the ones that have a special charm:
My hometown, the worldwide famous Porto (or Oporto)
Amsterdam
Paris
A Coruña (or La Coruña)

Thanked: 293Aww.. it's a shame nobody said Philadelphia, yet I'm not surprised. In the mix of cities available for visiting, there are more glamorous spots. I love "my" city of Brotherly Love but it's the same way you love your family -- you love them because you grew up with them. I love Philly because I live there and it's a great place.
I love Miami and Chicago as my other two US cities. Maybe I'll post again in October, after I get back from Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, and Rome
