Mudkipz, If you prefer to have US made sunglasses, then I hghly recommend Randolph Engineerings' Aviators: Randolph Engineering :: Aviator Sunglasses, Ranger Shooting Eyewear, Prescription Frames, Military Direct, and Accessories I have worn them for the last twenty years (the same pair), so they do last !! Just for the record, I actually prefer sunglasses that let about 50% of the light through.

The only time I wear sunglasses is while driving, and I don't actually need them because it's so bright. I like in Oregon, not So-Cal.

All I need is glasses with good polarization to eliminate glare, and increase contrast. When I most need that, is when the sun is low in the sky, which means that if I wore shades that blocked 91% of the light, I wouldn't be able to use them at the times of day when I need them.

Almost every product, from sunglasses that only block 30% of the light, to mach 3 razors has it's place in the market.

In the last 7 years or so I've managed to break two pairs of Police & lose another & lose a pair of Serengeti's. Then the replacement Serengeti's got knocked into the waste bin beside my desk & got thrown out with the rest of the contents!
I'm on a pair of Ray Ban's now. My wife bought them for me & if anything happens to them I'll be in the dog house! Decent sunglasses are worth the extra money, but maybe not when you get through them like i do!

I'll have to take your word for it. What led to me buying the ones I have in the first place (and subsequently replacing them) was that they were the only sunglasses I've ever tried on that don't look weird on me. I just love 'em, and they complement my face like they were designed just for me.

I can't speak for the blade less Lasik but boy let me tell ya, it is SO worth it. I wore contacts off and on for 10 years and glasses 10 b4 that. Hubby got me Lasik a few years ago and going from blind as a bat to being able to see 3 seconds later, is the only thing better than adult activities! And yes I have Oakley's too, protecting the investment.

I just have prescription sunglasses. They're excellent. A lot cheaper than raybans as well.

I don't think I'd ever paid more than $5 for a pair. But there I was in the sporting goods store and looking at the Bausch & Lomb display and thinking " $65 is a lot for a pair of sunglasses, but they sure seem a lot more durable than what I've been using. What the hell, I got a steady job" so I bought them and instantly felt guilty about spending the money. $65 is a LOT for a pair of sunglasses, after all, and I tend to be a skinflint.

But here's the valuable lesson. If you have a problem remembering where you left your sunglasses, you won't after you spend $65 on them. You'll make it your business to remember from that day on. The only thing that will make a cheapskate feel worse than dropping that much money on sunglasses would be to lose them. Paying for quality is also it's own reward. I had those glasses for almost fifteen years. The lenses seemed all but immune to scratches, the frames held up really well, and they were comfortable and clear. In fact, they still looked almost new after I'd had them that long. So, after ten years, I finally stopped feeling guilty about spending the money

Sadly, one day they were broken in a freak accident. I was poor again, and so I went back to the drugstore variety and I've not felt wealthy enough to replace them since. I was just looking online at Ray Bans again, hoping to replace them one day and wondering how long I would have to save up my nickles. As it turns out, pretty long. The Wayfarers I got for $65 so many years ago are now selling for about $110 a pair. Holy crap! How did I get so old?
    well...
the 80's are back and the wafers are "in" now...

my wife like cheap sun glasses as well...
i got her a good pair not long ago and she love them...

i think i spend around $100 every 2 years for a good pair...

For what its worth, my Ray Bans are $190 now, but they have been that price for about 3 years. I lived in the Caribbean for 2 years though, so a good pair of sun glasses were needed. Plus, wearing them every day and every where you went helped me keep up with them.

I purchased my first pair of Ray Bans in 1973. I wore those glasses 30 years and once fished them off the bottom of Lake Okoboji in NW Iowa after they fell out of my pocket and down the hole I was ice fishing through!

The nose piece struts finally gave out from sweat, etc., so I sent them back to Ray Ban for repair. Long story short, I received a new pair back to replace my 30 year old glasses.

If you have your broken glasses, send them back. You've nothing to loose.
