I went to a Levi's store in a local mall just yesterday. My god do I love the 514s. I am not that big of a guy, just under 6 feet tall, but the way the slimmer 514s fit made me look a bit cleaner, leaner and taller, not to mention I love how comfy they are!

I think I will go ahead and get 2 pairs of 514s, and 1 pair of the more traditional 505s. Over time I will add more 514s or 505s. Maybe even add a 529 which I believe is the same as the 505, only sitting low at the waist.

I'm a Carhartt man, myself. A quick look at their site was showing plenty of options in 15oz, and their flannel lined jeans are great for when it's a little nippy out. Throw on a Carhartt hoodie or duck jacket and you're good to go.

For my "work" pants (work = teaching high school... I hope), I prefer Dickies. Weights vary, which is good for the low-heat-to-save-money summers and the no-AC summers, they come in water/stain resistant fabrics, and they stay creased without ironing.

Heh, kind of amused at how this thread is all about the 'finer things' but we hear about things like George(Read: Walmart) pants. Ponying up and reaching for the good stuff is hat makes the good stuff feel so good.

Still, good to see guys are frugal with their monies.

"Finer Stuff" doesn't have to be expensive.. I'm all about "Finer" inexpensive things, and George pants are surprisingly good for $10.

Levi's are nice too, but a lot of $ for "casual" clothes to me. Still not in the $200 range like some though, I still don't get that.

I'm just saying, you're never going to see George pants on the fashion run way.

    Now Giorgio Armani pants...

Levis are cool! A little bit pricey, but cool.I use to use them for work and wear them out quick.I now buy jeans from Costco for $12.95.I could swear these Costco jeans are made by Levi, they are marked Kirkland as all Costco generic brand items are.Try them out. They look like Levis, they feel like Levis, and wear like Levis. The only difference is the V stitching on the back pockets.

I fully agree! Yes, I know that personal preferences very from person to person (hence the term 'personal') and that some other members might disagree. That is everyone's right. I myself feel shamelessly free to say that, in my own humble opinion, they are the finest jeans out there. Especially the 501's, the only ones I actually like and wear after much trial and error to my sorrow and my mrs' enjoyment....

I suppose this is true enough...
of course I think most fashion runway styles look more like circus freak stuff.. never appeals to me at all. I've always been more into "classic" styles. a good navy pinstripe 3 button 3 piece suit is about the top of the list.
