Two long days on the road to Atlantic City and a few torrential storms and we arrived at the A.C. Hilton. My girlfriend is bummed because the beach was the main attraction here for her and the weather is gray and rainy Thanks for the restaurant advise, I don't know if we will splurge here as we still have NYC and Boston to go! If I hit big at the tables then we will get the biggest steaks and lobster we can find!! Not counting on that though. We are about to walk down the boardwalk to get lunch and hopefully we get a clear spot of sun for the beach later but I doubt it. One more night here so I'll post about my poker room experience later!

Thanked: 293Dave,
If the weather clears up and you guys want to get a beach day in, I'd recommend going south of Atlantic City to Ventnor or Margate. The Atlantic City beaches are kind of a city beach. Not very clean and awkward. Not representative of New Jersey beaches, a lot of which are very nice. You can get to Margate if you head south on Atlantic and drive for about 10-15 minutes. Not a far ride for considerably cleaner and nicer beaches.
Margate is a very rich area, so upkeep is key there.
Long story short, AC is for casinos, shopping and nice restaurants, not beaches.
Hope you have fun.

If you're a gambling man then Foxwoods in Connecticut isn't too far off the path to Boston. Largest casino on this continent!

Since we are hitting so many spots in our two weeks, we are on a pretty tight schedule but maybe we will have time tomorrow to get down the beach a bit. On the bright side, the weather is breaking a little now Thanks for the advise!
We are staying three nights in Salem and one day we will take the ferry or train into Bean Town. I would love to hit Foxwoods but my lady is not a gambler so me getting to hit the tables tonight is a perk of the stop in AC.

Well I sat down at a 1-2 no limit hold-em table at in the Tropicana poker room with $120. After an hour of play, I had $450 in front of me
Did I get up?........ No. A few hands later, I got pocket queens and raised $10 pre flop and got a couple callers. The flop came J-10-5 and I bet $40 with one caller. The turn was trash and the guy had about $80 or 90 left so I went all in and he called. This guy had 10-8 in the hole so I had him dominated with my queens! The river came 8 giving him two pair, I couldn't believe he was calling me down with middle pair on the board and a crap kicker, I was steamed Well I sat around for another 45 minutes and couldn't catch a hand and walked away $43 on top.
Boy, that $300 would have spent nice in NYC today and tomorrow but I guess thats what I get for not leaving when I was up.

Thanked: 293Dude. I have been there.
That's the problem with sitting at 1-2. Tourists. They figure they'll play poker and they have 100 bucks so they sit down and play like idiots, and then people who know what they're doing go to the river with 90% odds and get sucked out.
Sorry to hear about that!
