My Vacation Adventure
My girlfriend and I are on a two week road trip, we left our home in Austin TX yesterday morning around 10 AM and arrived in New Orleans around 5:30. This is my first time in the big easy and we have been enjoying every minute. We are staying at the Hotel Provencal in the French Quarter. Last night we ate at the Gumbo Shop and then hit Bourbon St. for a little fun. We started this morning at Cafe Du Monde then walked and shopped up until now. Tonight we are going to head down to Frenchman St. for dinner, live jazz, and drinks. Tomorrow morning we are taking a tour of the St. Louis Cemetery and maybe hit a couple more shops. After that we will hit the road bound for Panama City Beach FL. I will post updates along the way and when we get home, I'll put up some choice pictures!

I love staying in the French Quarter. Bourboning isn't much my style, but with all the stuff to do there, it's hard to be bored. If you haven't done it, you should take one of the ghost tours through the Quarter. My wife made me take one with her, and it was surprisingly fun.

Well, we made it to Panama City Beach Fl. The cemetery tour in New Orleans was really cool and our guide made very worthwhile. There was a mean storm rolling in as we were in the St. Louis Cemetery and it gave it a really authentic feel with the dark clouds and thunder. It started raining just as we left the cemetery. I got your talisman Doc. Yeah Quick, Bourbon St. was not really our thing either but we just wanted to be able to say we did it. We stumbled on a really good little Italian joint on Frenchmen St. called Adolpho's, with eleven tables and it was excellent!
The beach here is beautiful, soft white sand and clean, blue gulf water! The town and restaurants are nothing to write home about but we have a decent room at the Paradise Palms Hotel that faces the Gulf and it is right on the beach! Really, there isn't even a boardwalk to cross! Tomorrow we will get up, hit the beach for a bit, then check out and head to Savannah Ga.

Just woke up in Savannah Ga. at the Savannah Bed and Breakfast Inn. I had a shower and a shave and we had a delightful breakfast in on the deck overlooking the courtyard. Last night we ate at the Pirate House, it is famous for being a pirate hang out and a notorious spot to get Shanghi'd onto a ship. Captain Flint was once an owner of the pub and Robert Lewis Stevenson stayed on many occasions and gained inspiration there. We also did a ghost tour from the back of a modified hearse, pretty cool! Today we are going to walk around the historical district and do some shopping. The history and architecture here is simply amazing, I wish we had more than one day in this spot. Tonight we will stop when we get tired on our way to Atlantic City NJ.........

Thanked: 293HEYYYY Atlantic City! My neck of the woods!
If you like the good life, you can't go wrong at the Borgata Hotel/Casino. There are 4-5 top notch restaurants. I was there last month and got a prime rib the size of my head at Old Homestead steakhouse, and it was very good. I've also been to Sea Blue and Izakaya to eat, and I also highly recommend both. Bobby Flay and Wolfgang Puck also have restaurants there.
However if you are looking for a steak specifically, and you are a steak man, then I recommend you go to the Chelsea Hotel (which has no casino in it) and go to the Chelsea Prime (owned by Stephen Starr). It's easily one of the top 3 steaks I ever had. Get the porterhouse.
If you like shopping, there are lots of high-end stores at Caesar's; they just spent a ton of money on their new "Pier" shopping area that juts out over the Atlantic. You can get there from the boardwalk or through Caesar's itself. The top floor also has some upscale restaurants (Stephen Starr - owner - Buddakhan, Continental, etc).
The Tropicana is also pretty cool if you wanted to check that out.
I'll check your thread again, so if you need any other pointers let me know.
